Obviously, December 21, 2012 was not the end of the world many people were expecting because the Mayan's Long Count calendar ended on that day. I believe the message in the calendar and the ancient stories and beliefs that support that message are saying December 21, 2012 was a marker for a transition. The prophecies mentioned in this book touch on the ongoing evolutionary changes our collective consciousness is experiencing. "2012 Transition and Transformation", is a basic guide to the ancient stories and science that binds all life together and the prophecies that foretell the possibilities of the journey that is before us.
Endorsement
For those of us who feel the world shifting inexorably beneath us and are looking for balance in the chaos, look no further than Paula Frighetti's book, "2012 Transition and Transformation". An accessible, quick and informative read, 2012 weaves history, myth, astronomy, and metaphysics, and gives reader pragmatic guidance on how to be active participants in a world that is, believe it or not, moving towards peace, understanding and a harmonious natural order. --Suzanne Kingsbury, author of "The Gospel According to Gracey" and "The Summer Fletcher Greel Loved Me".

I acquired this book (on special at no cost) to learn more about the "end" of the Mayan calendar on December 21, 2012. Unfortunately, there was very little there about the Mayan prophecies. Her great insight to the Mayan religion is that they believed in "cycles." Sure. Doesn't everybody? While there wasn't much in the book about the end of the Mayan calendar, there was lots and lots of feel-good nonsense about transcendental meditation, environmentalism, the collective consciousness and spirit of "all things." Her comments about the evils of fossil fuels indicate that she has bought into popular environmentalist rhetoric, but knows nothing about science in general and fossil fuels in particular.
The author appears to believe that, after millennia of descent into greed and materialism, mankind is on the cusp of a rebirth into brotherhood and spirituality. It sounds very pretty, but agonizingly naive. Can a single day (or even year, or decade) change thousands of years of human nature? In effect, the author advocates ushering in a new world by holding hands and singing Kumbaya. Pure drivel.
I believe the author was sincere and well-intentioned in her writing, but this book was a waste of time. I got what I paid for.

2012 Transition and Transformation Paula Frighetti 9781457504273 Books Reviews
The average human being walks this planet in a daze, unaware that there is much more to this world than meets the eye. Still, that a change of direction is greatly needed is obvious to most. Our socio-economic system is failing.
In her book, Ms. Frighetti is making us aware that 2012 is a pivotal year it marks the beginning of the era of the Fifth Sun (to the Mayans), which portends a change of consciousness in humanity, evolution. She also makes us aware of other cultures with similar prophesies. And, she is also trying to make us understand that to change our direction, our effort is required "The choices we make now will help to write the next chapter in humanity's story." Indeed!
Ms Frighetti also tries to make us aware that everything is energy in flow. I enjoyed her visit to the Montana vortex and the House of Mystery, where the energy of the vortex affected her perception, and altered the growth of plants and trees around. Interesting pictures!
This book is delivering a timely message.
"2012 Transition and Transformation" is an enlightening book for the skeptic who seeks more information on the Mayan Calendar's prophecies for the year 2012 and presents a unique look into the mindset of those who accept these as truth.
Inside you will find a wealth of knowledge laid out before you by the author, who leaves no doubts where she stands in her beliefs, in a concise easy to understand way. The bibliography is extensive. There is a glossary, a list of books and websites for further research.
There are interesting quotes peppered throughout and many short stories used to present her case in an effective manner.
I found this a joy to read and would highly recommend this book to the uninitiated to the metaphysical, believers of these prophecies, and also to the skeptical among us.
I hope to hear more from this author!
